These standing portraits have the opportunity not only to celebrate the person in frame, but also to fully highlight the clothes in a way that draws attention to the styling itself.
Because of our documentary approach, moments like these get to stand out as something special. These portraits become our chance to pause — to let the audience really take it all in. To appreciate the character standing in front of us now that we've had a window into their lives, but also the care, colour, texture, and confidence that a JCPenney outfit brings to them.
I want to film these moments with the same reverence we reserve for fashion editorials. Beautiful light. Patient compositions. A camera that doesn't rush. Styled to a tee.
These portraits won't feel like fashion interrupting the story, but rather the natural culmination of it. A finale.
The result is something that celebrates both equally. A portrait that feels steeped in an understated, but ever-present, sense of mirth and levity... Yet still aspirational because of the styling and the confidence the clothes bring to our characters.
