LOOKING AHEAD...

Let's chat about Town Takeover...

I see this as a very natural extension of everything we've discussed for our Teacher script.

The filmmaking philosophy remains exactly the same: real people, real locations, painterly portraiture, and a documentary approach rooted in the Sur/Realist aesthetic. The only thing that changes is the scale of the world around us and the plurality of locations.

I know there's been some discussion around introducing a holiday flavour to support that release. I just want to make sure it's nothing that hinders our more nimble approach to these scripts. That said, I love that it naturally gives us permission to introduce a little more warmth, texture, and celebration into the environments. Streets and homes might become decorated, local traditions emerge, perhaps a market, a craft vendor, or a holiday tradition.

Communities feel just a little more connected. Rather than leaning into overt holiday spectacle, I'd love to let those details simply exist as part of the world our characters already inhabit.

Ultimately, I want Town Takeover to feel like the same visual language we've established — just wrapped in a subtle layer of holiday magic, if we can make it work naturally.
