Now that we’re aligned on performance style and approach, I am excited to go into the casting process with a shared vision for these characters.
KD has always struck me as a dish for all types of people; perhaps we can explore our casting spec representing that.
Maybe our jogger as a woman in her early 30s and our construction foreman as a man in his early 40s. The pool-goer, though, feels like an opportunity to surprise people. Maybe it’s a retired man with a wonderfully unique face, or a new-to-grandmothering 60s woman enjoying her one day off. Either way, I think there’s room to find someone unexpected that people will distinctly remember.
Regardless, grounded and authentic performances are the key. I think a hybrid of traditional casting and type casting real people will give us the best chance of finding characters who feel genuinely lived in.
For casting, I'd recommend Kris and Kara or VAKA Street Casting. Both would be fantastic partners for this.
